Congratulations to the Eagleton Science and Politics Fellows Class of 2022

On July 6th, the Science Fellows gathered at the Wood Lawn Mansion with their placement supervisors and Senator Bob Smith to celebrate the fellows’ completion of the program.

July 29, 2022 – The Eagleton Science and Politics Program congratulates the 2022 cohort of Eagleton Science Fellows, who have just completed a year as science advisors in New Jersey State government. Seven PhD-level scientists were placed into legislative and executive offices as in-house full-time science aides in this program designed to build bridges between science and politics. We are grateful to the state legislature and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative for their generous support of this Fellowship.

Four Science Fellows were hired for full-time positions with their placements.

  • Joseph Gurrentz, Ph.D. – New Jersey Senate Majority Office
  • Jesse Kolodin, Ph.D. – New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance
  • Gabriel Moore, Ph.D. – New Jersey Department of Health
  • Sawyer Morgan, Ph.D. – New Jersey Board of Public Utilities

Dr. Virginia Folgado Marco was placed in the NJ Office of Innovation and worked with Kai Feder and Mike Flowers. Dr. Joey Gurrentz was placed in the NJ Senate Majority Office under the supervision of Matt Peterson. Dr. Jesse Kolodin worked with William Rader in the NJ Department of Banking and Insurance, and Dr. Federica Lari was at the NJ Department of Environmental Protection working with Ky Asrall and Helaine Barr. Dr. Gabe Moore was placed in the NJ Department of Health with Amanda Medina-Forrester and Dr. Sawyer Morgan worked at the NJ Board of Public Utilities with Arian Benrey and Kelly Mooij. Dr. Zixuan Wang was placed in the NJ Assembly Majority Office with Catherine Tung.
