Charting the white male dominance of NJ boards and commissions
Although these appointees can have a huge impact on the lives of residents, the demographic makeup of these boards is vastly different than the state’s. White men account for about 45% of appointed officials but they are only 27% of the state’s population, according to a new report from the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University. No other group comes close to that kind of representation for its relative population.

Celeste Maloy declared winner of 2nd Congressional District election, per AP
Maloy will be only the fifth woman to represent the state in the U.S. House of Representatives. After she is sworn in, there will be new records for the number of women in Congress, 151; women in the House, 126; Republican women in Congress, 43; and Republican women in the House, 34, according to the Center for American Women and Politics.
