Iris Michelle Delgado is a nationally recognized political strategist and campaign leader with deep roots in New Jersey and over 15 years of experience in political organizing, electoral operations, and data-driven targeting across the country. Raised in Carteret, New Jersey, Iris began her political journey as a student at J.P. Stevens High School in Edison Township, working with then-Mayor George Spadoro. After graduating from Cornell University in 2009, she joined Governor Jon Corzine’s reelection campaign, launching what would become a distinguished career in Democratic politics. Iris went on to serve as Special Assistant to Mary Kay Henry, International President of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), where she helped shape national labor and political strategy. In 2014, she managed a statewide independent expenditure campaign in Wisconsin opposing Governor Scott Walker’s anti-worker agenda. She later returned to SEIU as National Operations Director, where she played a key role in the union’s electoral engagement in support of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. In 2017, Iris returned home to lead Victory 2017, the coordinated campaign credited with delivering a decisive victory for Governor Phil Murphy and sweeping Democratic wins up and down the ballot. Since then, she has continued to drive Democratic success in New Jersey at every level. In 2021, she was appointed by Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin as one of six Democratic commissioners on the New Jersey Congressional Redistricting Commission, where she helped redraw the state’s congressional map. She was also selected to serve on the staff of the New Jersey Apportionment Commission, assisting in redrawing the state’s legislative districts for the next decade. Her work in the 2023 legislative election cycle was recognized nationally when she received a 2024 Pollie Campaign Excellence Award from the American Association of Political Consultants as Campaign Manager of the Year for a Non-Statewide race— a testament to her skill in building winning strategies and coalitions. A sought-after expert in political targeting and data infrastructure, Iris has worked in over 16 states to help elect a wide range of Democratic leaders, including Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz, and Representative Terri Sewell — the first African American woman elected to Congress from Alabama. The youngest of six children, Iris is the proud daughter of Chilean and Peruvian immigrants. Her career has been defined by a commitment to equity, working-class empowerment, and building a Democratic Party that truly represents the diversity and values of the people it serves.
