Rutgers Democracy Lab Kicks Off Think & Do Tank

September 5, 2025 | Rutgers Democracy Lab

This week, the Rutgers Democracy Lab welcomed its inaugural cohort for the Think & Do Tank, an immersive civic learning and capacity-building experience, strengthening students’ skills in democratic citizenship and problem-solving. To kick off their first session, Dr. Elizabeth C. Matto and Professor Ava Majlesi introduced the students to the Rutgers Democracy Lab, providing a detailed background on RDL’s goals, how it functions under the Eagleton Institute of Politics, and the many opportunities available through the Lab and the Institute. Students spent the rest of the session connecting with each other, sharing what brought them to the Think & Do Tank, and discussing the topics they are passionate about, from healthcare accessibility to media literacy. They will spend the next year working collaboratively to address the RDL inaugural theme, Inspiring Democratic Engagement, through their projects and in partnership with faculty and expert practitioners.
