Chmielewski oversees the Institute's public programs and works with the director and associate director to develop new initiatives; including the Institute's 60th anniversary celebration, the Eagleton Science and Politics Workshop, and the Rutgers Washington Internship Program. She is also responsible for a range of outreach activities including Eagleton's email newsletters, social media, and selected website content development.

In addition, Chmielewski is a co-instructor for the Political Campaigning course at Eagleton. In 2012-2013, she managed the Citizenship Rutgers naturalization application assistance program in collaboration with the Rutgers Law Schools in Newark and Camden. She previously served as special assistant to Mayor Jun Choi in Edison Township. Chmielewski is an alumna of the Eagleton Undergraduate Associate Program and has been co-chair of the Eagleton Alumni Committee since 2013.
