Chmielewski oversees the Institute's public programs and works with the director and associate director to develop new initiatives, including the Eagleton Science and Politics Workshop and the Rutgers-Eagleton Washington Internship Award. She is also responsible for a range of outreach activities including newsletters, social media, and web content.

In addition, Chmielewski is a co-instructor for the Political Campaigning course at Eagleton. She previously managed the Institute's Citizenship Rutgers naturalization application assistance program in collaboration with the Rutgers Law Schools in Newark and Camden and led Eagleton's 60th anniversary activities. Before returning to Eagleton in 2011, Chmielewski served as special assistant to Mayor Jun Choi in Edison Township. She is an alumna of the Eagleton Undergraduate Associates Program and served as co-chair of the Eagleton Alumni Committee from 2013 through 2016.
