HERBERT C. KLEIN

Herbert C. Klein, of counsel to Genova Burns has had a long and distinguished career in politics. In New Jersey, Klein was a member of the state Assembly from 1972-1976 and former associate majority leader and chair of the majority caucus. He was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1993 to 1995, serving on the Banking (Financial Institutions) Committee, the Housing Committee, and the Science, Space and Technology Committee. Klein wrote the law that created the NJ Economic Development Authority and was co-counsel on bond issue for NJ Sports and Exposition Authority. In the House of Representatives, he co-authored the Interstate Branch Banking Law in addition to other major banking legislation.

Klein is a member of the Rutgers Board of Overseers, executive committee of the NJ State Association of Jewish Federations and the New Jersey Israel Commission. He is a trustee of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and on the Chair's Advisory Council of the National Democratic Institute.  He is also past president of the Beth Israel Hospital board of trustees and Rutgers board of trustees. Klein received his BA from Rutgers, LLB and DJS from Harvard, and LLM from NYU.
